My boyfriend got annoyed with me reading passages out loud to him while we were on vacation but he always laughed at them in the end! I read this while I was in the middle of watching Catastrophe which made me feel like Catastrophe was his real life and I really just want everything to work out for him.

He's just likeable. Fast read too! One thing I hate is the tweets on the chapter pages running off the page.

Can't stand an unfinished. site Edition Verified download. If you don't get his humor, I don't recommend this book. If you like very dry, a little raunchy wit that describes some very painful experiences, I highly recommend this book.

The honesty, even with the humor, is very moving and I enjoyed this book a lot. Rob Delaney is hilarious. There are moments that I read in bed and I woke my wife up because I couldn't stop laughing. But Rob's story turns very serious midway through the book.

His personal struggles with alcohol are laid bare. He balances humor with cold reality for a few chapters before resuming the hilarity. I love Catastrophe and once you read the book, you understand the show even better. I bought the book having read some of his tweets before.

I thought the book might be good for a laugh and upon opening it to see the dedication page and realizing that Rob is from MA, like me, I knew I had to read it.

Lots of caregiving work is unpaid labor. These new policies could change that

He talks and jokes a lot about growing up and being an alcoholic as a kid. He talks about becoming sober, and now living sober and helping others with their fights with sobriety and depression he had bouts with both. It's a short read, but is still only his first book. I bought the hardcover in case he happens to be at a signing or a comedy show in the near future. You will like this book! If you've ever heard Rob during his stand up performances or storytelling events at UCB, then you know you're dealing with someone who was born to tell stories.

Rob has a gift for engaging the audience and keeping everyone so involved in the story that when he brings and earlier point back around, you are suddenly overcome with laughter. Very happy to see his hard work make him so successful. He is always grateful to the audience and his smiles are utterly sincere.

Best wishes to him. Dude is hilarious. Plenty of bad language if that kind of thing makes you uncomfortable, but oh, is this book funny. And that is that there is not enough of it.

I am so annoyed at all that's left out that I almost wrote a bad review until I realized that a book that leaves you wanting more is the very definition of 5-star. I've seen Rob in interviews talk about his journey from the corporate world into comedy and that is not in this book; nor is his battle to pay off all his medical bills.

What is in this book is incredibly heartfelt, real, and deeply moving I was thoroughly engrossed and touched. Maybe it's all of his experience on Twitter, but his writing is short, clear, and kind of stings but in a good way.

My girlfriend and I, without the other knowing, bought each other this book for each other for Christmas. I almost read the book before gifting it to her, but my parents advised against it so I waited. All the pregnancy stuff, the downloading the ring stuff, the getting knocked up before you're really ready for a relationship He also crackles with absurdist wit and envelopes you with heartfelt honesty and, more often than not, smothers you with visceral authenticity.
